Children’s Opportunities
At First Baptist Madison, children have many opportunities to study the Bible and learn to be followers of Christ. Among these are Sunday school and the M&M’s on Wednesday nights: Message, Missions and Music.
Sunday School: Sunday school is on Sunday mornings at 10:20. All children’s Sunday morning Bible study is taught from Lifeway publications. We have a class for preschool 3’s, preschool 4’s and Kindergarteners, a younger elementary school class for 1st and 2nd graders, and an upper elementary school class for 3-6th graders.
M&M’s: The M&M’s are for children 1-6th grade and are experienced starting at 6:00 on Wednesday evenings following church fellowship supper.
- The kids are taught the Message at 6:00. This time includes devotions, Bible skills, verse memory and games. As our inspiration we use the verse Psalm 119:11 “I have treasured your word in my heart so that I may not sin against you.” (HCSV)
- Kids go on to Missions at 6:20. Mission work is clearly commanded in Matthew 28:19-20. They will learn about missionaries and do mission work in their own community. The girls are taught using Women’s Missionary Union materials and the boys are taught using literature from the North American Mission Board.
- Music and children’s choir time begins at 7:00 with our Music Minister Mark Gessner. Music education is very important at FBCM and Brother Mark does such a wonderful job with our children.
- Mission Friends with their leaders (6:15-7:00)
- Preschool Choir with Mrs. Eva McPherson (7:00-7:30)
Children’s Events:. When kids get to play with each other and bond with Christian adults, only good things can happen! That’s what it’s all about! These events take place throughout the year.

- Easter Egg Hunt and a children’s Flashlight Night
- Family Fun Day
- Vacation Bible School
- CentriKid Camp for 3rd-6th graders
